The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has upheld the High Court directives over Election Commission' preparation of a voter list for the next national election. The Honourable SC asked the EC to update the existing electoral roll. So we can be sure that the election-engineering blueprint of the EC has been scuttled . From the very beginning, the recalcitrant move of the CEC has dismayed all of us. He shrugged off the January 4 HC directives. He took a self-propelled step to make a fresh voter list squandering a lot of money. He could update the existing voter list that would certainly bypass controversy and enhance acceptability. But he lacked sagacity and professional acumen. Now the EC is bound to nullify the controversial draft electoral roll and update the existing voter list with necessary modifications to ensure the full compliance with the SC verdict. I hope the EC will realise its blunders and take therapeutic steps to ensure free, fair and flawless elections.
