Hasina's remarks

I was amused by the Leader of the Opposition's remarks on the health condition of the Honourable President.

This is another example of how distant our political leaders are from common people. Sheikh Hasina must understand that her countrymen are not that foolish to believe this kind of words. And similarly, the ruling party leaders should also keep in mind that even though the country is a weak democracy it is not that weak that a breach of a basic democratic practice would go unchallenged by the people.

Democracy is for the people, by the people. I don't know about the first part, but the latter part of that phrase is really true about Bangladesh.

The former prime minister and Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina surprised us many times with her words.

What she said about the President's illness was unbecoming of a political leader of her stature.
