World Cup Football 2006 is just a few days away. This grand occasion brings the warmth and the urge in the individual and the collective being of the people across the globe to remain engrossed in the exciting matches. The fever grips football lovers across the globe.Countries, irrespective of the playing status, also get into the same fever that unites all into one under the same roof in a spirit of friendship and fellow feeling. If we examine the impact of the event in our country, we see that people, irrespective of age and sex, are getting merged into the same spirit, though we are not there as a playing nation! They are seen engrossed in the spirit so much that they happen to be on street after their team's success chanting slogans in full-throated glee! There are flags of their favourite teams waving in the breeze on the roofs of the buildingsa great phenomenon of universal brotherhood. The point gets more enthralling when we come to learn that top players of the African nations are participating in a fund raising campaign to fight poverty in those countries under the programme initiated by a social organisation. Long live sports.
