Kamalganj flooded

Five unions of Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar district have gone under water due to heavy rain and onrush of water from Tripura hills in India.

River Dhalai is flowing 10 feet above the danger level.

The flood protection embankment has been breached at six points at Haktiarkala, Guramara, Bongaon, Herengabazar, Noinarpar and South Nazatkuna.

Kamalganj upazila headquarter and 40 other villages of the upazila are now under floodwater.

Water Development Board in Moulvibazar said Dhalai is still rising.

Road communications between Kamalganj and Srimangal and Kamalganj and Adampur might be snapped at any time.

Meanwhile, water level of Monu river is also increasing sharply and it is now flowing six feet above the danger mark at Monu Railway Bridge.

The flood control embankment along the river has been threatened at 14 points.
