Hasina urges Kuwait to take more workers

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina yesterday requested Kuwait to take more workers from Bangladesh and assist for training of skilled manpower.Her request came when Ambassador of Kuwait in Dhaka Abdullatif Ali Al Mawash called on her at her Dhanmondi residence. She also discussed various bilateral issues of mutual interests with him. Emerging from the meeting that lasted for around an hour, the Ambassador said they exchanged pleasantries while the opposition leader conveyed her best wishes for the Emir of Kuwait, the government and the people of the country. As a journalist asked about progress of establishing an oil refinery in Bangladesh by Kuwait, he expressed his ignorance on the matter saying, "I don't know anything about it." Later, AL President's Political Secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury said Kuwait is a long time tested friend of Bangladesh. "We discussed how manpower export from Bangladesh to Kuwait can be enhanced and how they (Kuwait) can help us training and coordination of developing skilled manpower," he said. AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil MP was also present at the meeting.
