Boeing to invest $27b in Russia over next 30 years
Afp, Moscow
US aviation giant Boeing plans to invest 27 billion dollars (21 billion euros) in Russia over the next 30 years, its representative for Russia and the former Soviet republics said Wednesday. It plans to spend the money on direct contracts and cooperation deals with the Russian aviation industry, and the sum may rise if further opportunities present themselves, Sergei Kravtchenko told Interfax news agency. Boeing is committed to buying titanium parts from Russia's VSMPO-Avisma worth 18 billion dollars alone, he said. A further four billion dollars are earmarked for developing an engineering centre which Boeing founded in Moscow and four billion more are planned to be spent on other contracts with Russian companies, Kravtchenko added.
