Rajshahi meet Khulna in final

Khulna and Rajshahi reached the final of the Dhaka Bank Under-19 National Youth Cricket Championship after shrugging off their respective oppositions in contrasting styles in the semifinals on yesterday's rain interrupted final day.Khulna edged Barisal by five runs in an exciting finish while Rajshahi handed a thumping 112-run defeat on Narayanganj on way to the final, a two-day affair that will begin at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium tomorrow. At the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Barisal were set a target of 92 runs in 30 overs due to the late start. Rabiul Islam took five wickets for 16 runs in a deadly spell as the Khulna lad broke through the Barisal middle-order. Aslam and Imran took two wickets each while Bishwanath claimed the final wicket to confirm Khulna's place in the final. Barisal were bowled out in the 27th over with opener Manik scoring 28 and Ashraful 19. Earlier, Khulna declared on their overnight score of 272 for nine. Rajshahi had a smoother ride at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Narayanganj were given 71 overs to score a revised target of 227 runs, in reply to Rajshahi's 288. They faltered early and never recovered as spinner Riyal took 5-19 to destroy the top order. Saqlain chipped in with three wickets while Momin and Sharik took one each. Nazrul batted for 90 minutes to score 24, but his dismissal sparked a collapse as Narayanganj were rolled over for 115.
