Biman employees threaten to resist Thai Airlines flights at ZIA

A forum of six employees' groups of Bangladesh Biman yesterday threatened to resist the operation of Thai International Airlines flights at Zia International Airport from the day the Thai airlines will take over the flight management at Chittagong Airport.The employees' group under the banner "Biman Steering Committee" also threatened to abstain from handling works of the Chittagong-bound flights from the same day, says a press release signed by committee convenor Fakhrul Alam Bhuiyan. The steering committee represents the Society of Aircraft Engineers of Bangladesh, Biman Employees' Union, Biman Sramik Union, Biman Sramik League, Biman Cabin Crew Association and Bangladesh Airlines Pilots' Association. The press release says if the Thai Airlines takes the charge of flight handling at the Chittagong Airport, it will hamper country's sovereignty and image and at the same time it will create rooms for smuggling.
