Cultural programme generating awareness on AIDS
In observance of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day 2006, development organisation CCD Bangladesh recently embarked on a five-day campaign programme, titled We are always with you. A spectacular candlelight rally was held in Rajshahi University to commemorate those who died of HIV/ AIDS and wishing better health for those infected. CCD Bangladesh and its students wing, Bangladesh Advanced Students Alliance (BASA) organised this programme, says a press release.A large number of professionals, including teachers, students, journalists, development workers and others expressed their solidarity with CCD's programme. The members of Youth Voice performed folk songs, including Baul songs, pot song, theatre and gomvira in different places. The objective was to spread AIDS awareness and human rights related message of the HIV/ AIDS infected people among the masses through entertainment.
