Amar Chhobi celebrates 300th episode
The weekly cine-magazine Amar Chhobi, aired on channel-i at 6:30 pm every Thursday, will touch the 300th milestone of its journey on June 1, 2006, says a press release. With an opening interview of film director AJ Mintoo -- the TV show featuring and documenting Bangladeshi films started its journey on January 2, 2000. The 300th episode will contain clips from anniversary programmes of 200th and 250th episodes. So far the show has featured emerging and veteran filmmakers, actors, producers, music directors, playback singers, cameramen, technicians and media personnel. In 45 episodes, the life and work of 29 film personalities who have passed away have been featured. Amar Chhobi has also highlighted different issues related to research on films, extensive information and documentation of our film history. Many film enthusiasts have acclaimed the show as a "private film archive". For its commendable endeavour, Amar Chhobi has received recognition from Bangladesh Cholochchitro Shangbadik Samity (BACHASAS) in 2002 as best programme on research and documentation. In 2005 Natyashabha honoured Safiuzzaman Khan Lodi, the show's host and Shamim Alam Dipen, the director, for their efforts in documenting Bangladeshi film-history. Shafiuzzaman Khan Lodi and Shamim Alam Dipen have jointly done the planning, script writing and direction of Amar Chhobi. The programme is edited by Iftekhar Ali Dawn and Towhidul Islam Ontu. Impress Tele film is the distributor of Amar Chhobi and it is produced by One-step Ahead.
