Gore blasts Bush administration as renegades, extremists

US President George W. Bush's administration is a "renegade band of right-wing extremists", former US vice president Al Gore said in an interview with a British newspaper yesterday.

Gore made the strongly-worded attack in The Guardian while denying that his politics had shifted to the left since Bush won out in the controversial race of the White House in 2000.

"If you have a renegade band of right-wing extremists who get hold of power, the whole thing goes to the right," the Democrat was quoted as saying.

"But I haven't moved. I'm where I've always been."

Gore, who is in Britain to promote "An Inconvenient Truth", his new documentary on the dangers of global warming, went on to claim he does "not expect to be a candidate" for president this time around, describing himself as a "recovering politician".
