Bagerhat court asks police to produce Abdur Rahman, Bangla Bhai


District and Sessions Judge of Bagerhat Nurunnahar Osmani ordered the police to produce Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) kingpin Abdur Rahman and its second-in-command Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai during the hearing of an August 17 bomb attack case.

Accepting the charge sheet of the case on Tuesday afternoon, the judge asked the investigating officer (IO) of the case to arrest the four absconding accused and produce them before the court.

The court further ordered the IO to submit a report on the progress of his actions taken against four absconding accused by June 26.

The absconding militants are Shafi, Giash, Shohag and Motasin. The other arrested accused are Abdur Rahman, Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai, Hafez Mahmud, Shabbir Hossain, Hasan Mollah, Abu Taleb, Kalim, Zillur Rahman, Anisur Rahman.

Sub-inspector of Bagerhat Police Station Mofazzel Hossain who investigated the case submitted the charge sheet on November 17 last year. But the court did not accept it and asked for further investigation into the case.

The IO submitted another charge sheet on April 13 this year accusing 13 people for the August 17 bomb attacks in Bagerhat.
