UP secys demand nationalisation of jobs

Secretaries of Union Parishads yesterday demanded nationalisation of their service.

They also demanded payment of 100 percent salary by the government and raising their status as second class officers.

They also threatened to begin a fast-unto-death programme on June 21 if their demands are not met by June 20.

The secretaries staged a sit-in and hold a rally at Muktangan in the city yesterday under the banner of Bangladesh Union Parishad Secretary Samity to press their demands.

Samity President HM Rezaul Karim presided over the rally.

Samity General Secretary Delwar Hossain, Joint Secretary Asaduzzaman and Organising Secretary Altaf Hossain addressed the rally, says a press release.
