Atletico snap up former Porto pair

Atletico Madrid have raided Dynamo Moscow's defensive ranks to sign Portugal's holding midfielder Costinha and Greek defender Georgios Seitaridis.

"Atletico Madrid have reached agreement on Tuesday with Dynamo Moscow to sign Georgios Seitaridis and Francisco Jose da Costa (Costinha)," said the club's official website. Seitaridis, 24, signed for four seasons while veteran Costinha, 32, agreed to a two-year deal.

Both Seitaridis, who won the European Championships with Greece in 2004, and Costinha, who helped Porto to the Cham-pions League crown the same year, were part of the new foreign legion that Dynamo brought in only a year ago when the big-spending Russian outfit raided Porto.

They had hoped to achieve success in the Russian league through talented western imports but the players failed to settle and Dynamo struggled badly in their domestic league.

Also recruited was Maniche but he lasted only six months before joining English Premier-ship champions Chelsea on loan, although he was released by Jose Mourinho and is now looking for another club.

Dynamno also bought talented Brazilian Derlei and Portugal's Nuno Valente during 2005 and those two are still with the club.
