Men's chess team beat Iceland

Bangladesh had a mixed bag of results against Iceland in the ninth round of 37th Chess Olympiad at Turin, Italy on Tuesday.While the men's team defeated Iceland 2.5-1.5 to maintain their winning streak, the women shared the points against the same opponents in a 1.5-1.5 draw. Grand Master Ziaur Rahman beat GM Stefanson Hannes Hlifar, International Master Reefat Bin Sattar beat IM Kristjansson Stefan, IM Abdullah Al Rakib drew with GM Olafsson Helgi and IM Enamul Hossain lost to GM Hjartarson Johann. The men's team increased their tally to 20.5 points with Armenia leading the table with 26.5 points, followed by China on 25.5. In the women's section, WIM Rani Hamid, WFM Zakia Sultana and WFM Tanima Parveen drew their boards against WGM Ptacni-kova Lenka, WFM Thorsteinsdottir Gudlaug and WIM Gretarsdottir Lilja respectively. The eves collected 13.5 points. Ukraine are leading the table with 21 points, closely followed by Russia on 20.5.
