Uplift work stalled
2 hold post of project officer in Saidpur

Work on about 100 rural development projects is stalled for about a month in Saidpur due to official complexities as two persons are holding the post of Project Implementation Officer (PIO) in the upazila.

This has created resentment among the ultra poor women who did not get their wages after working in different projects under food for work and test relief.

Sources said the ministry concerned in an order transferred Saidpur PIO Nagendra Nath Roy to Kaharol upazila in Dinajpur and ordered PIO Motiur Rahman of Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur to replace him.

The new PIO joined his new workplace at Saidpur on March 27.

But Nagendra Nath Roy managed to get his transfer order cancelled and refrained from handing over charge to Motiur Rahman.

Now, as two persons are holding the same post in Saidpur, official formalities are stopped and all development works and payments to labourers are stalled, the sources said.

New PIO Motiur Rahman told newsmen that he can not sign any paper as his predecessor has not yet handed over charge.

District Relief Officer Abdul Majid , when contacted, said he has nothing to do as the order for transfer of Nagendra Nath Roy has been cancelled by the DG office in Dhaka.
