JCD leader sued on extortion charge

General secretary of Satkhira district Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Hafizur Rahman Mukul, has been sued by a bank official for extortion. Saiful Islam, Principal Officer of Satkhira branch of Sonali Bank, in the complaint lodged with Sadar police station said the JCD leader had demanded Tk one lakh toll from him. As he refused to pay, the JCD leader and some of his accomplices beat him in front of D B Khan Homeopathic College in the town and snatched Tk, 52,000 on Saturday. On contact, the accused Mukul denied the allegation, saying the bank official filed a false case due to previous enmity. OC of Sadar police station, Shah Jahan, said they are probing the allegation.
