DB police said Shaikh Ferdaus Alam alias Feroze is a smuggler and also involved in drug trafficking. There are two separate cases against him with Benapole Police Station and Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on charge of smuggling drugs from India. He was on bail in the cases.

Ferdaus runs a syndicate of smugglers and drug traffickers, said AC Zahur Chowdhury. Besides, he is also involved in trafficking in women, he said.

Ferdaus is also a listed smuggler, said city Special Branch of Khulna metropolitan police.
