Hakim Jamain is one of the five participants from Jordan, who have participated in the 12th Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh. He has brought in experimental drawing and graphic art that reflect the individuality of the art scene in Jordan and its modernity. Three etchings of Jamain are on display."Jordanian artists are doing quality experimental works, despite the delay of emergence of art in Jordan compared to other countries in the middle-eastern region. There is a unique element to every artist in Jordan. Blending of modernity and diversified tradition of the cultural symbols are the main features of their work," said Jamain, who teaches art in Jordan. Born in Jordan, Jamain did his art education in Holland and Italy. In his words, "I have completed Architectural Art and Design, from the Hague Royal Academy, Holland and HBO Degree in Print Making from the same institute. Moreover I have completed a post diploma degree, from Cova Art School, Milan, Italy in 1995 and acquired a Bachelor's degree in Arts from Milan Fine Arts Academy, Italy." He has participated in solo as well as group exhibitions in Holland, Switzerland, Morocco, Italy, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and has won several awards, including first prize in the Annual Exhibition of Jordanian Artists Association, Amman in 2005 and second prize in the International Graphic Competition (Corneallo), Italy in 2004. Moreover, Hakim Jamain is the author of three books on art. Jamain was highly appreciated of the biennale. He said, "It is a well organised biennale. A good number of artworks are on display, which have given us the opportunity to widen our perspective." "Of course a biennale can have several facets," continued Hakim, "There could be workshops, in which artists have the scope to exchange thoughts. Moreover, artists should be given the scope to explain his/her own techniques which would enrich others."
