Ispahani Mirzapore Tea
7th National Cricket League

Leaders under pressure
Tons for Tamim, Salahuddin, Mehrab Jr

Table-toppers Sylhet suffered a setback on the opening day of the seventh-round four-day match of the Ispahani Seventh National Cricket League when centuries by Tamim Iqbal and Gazi Salahuddin helped Chittagong rattle 417 for seven in their first innings at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Rajshahi were in a more comfortable position when they took a 99-run first innings lead with six wickets intact against Khulna while Dhaka posted 262-6 in their first innings against Barisal, thanks to Mehrab Hossain Jr's 133 not out.

SYLHET-CHITTAGONG
Explosive under-19 opener Tamim Iqbal smashed 113 off 84 balls and Gazi Salahuddin 115 from 140 deliveries as Chittagong sent Sylhet for a leather hunt after being put into bat. Opener Masumuddowlah was out for a second-ball duck with just six runs on board but left-hander Tamim shared 195 runs for the second wicket with Salahuddin in just 27 overs. Tamim's hurricane two-hour knock was studded with 18 fours and two sixes while Salahuddin sent the ball 16 times into the fence.

Nazimuddin settled for a rather sedate 62 while skipper Ehsanul Haque was batting on 72 at stumps.

RAJSHAHI-KHULNA
National discard all-rounder Mushfiqur Rahman grabbed five wickets for 40 as Rajshahi shot out Barisal for 122 at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium. After electing to bat, Khulna failed to survive an opening salvo as medium pacer Mushfiq topped and tailed in his ten overs. The home side, who are joint-second in the six-team table with Dhaka, reached 221-4 at close of play with Anisur Rahman Sanchay batting on 68 and captain Hasanuzzaman Rosel on 28.

DHAKA-BARISAL
Smarting over a previous round defeat, defending champions Dhaka got off to a poor start when they slumped to 39-4 after opting to bat first at the Barisal Stadium. But Mehrab turned out as the saviour with a cool 133 off 249 balls that featured 23 boundaries in over five hours. He shared three half-century stands with Mehrab Hossain Opee, Kamrul Islam and Sajjad Kadir to repair the damage.
