Iqbal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, acting secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, has been promoted to secretary under the President's quota. In addition, his service has been extended for one year on contract.

The government also appointed Md Sharful Alam, who was earlier promoted to additional secretary, as chairman of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) yesterday. Prior to his new assignment, he was the director general of the Local Government Division.

AKM Azizul Hoque, who had been an OSD since his promotion to the post of additional secretary, was made director general of the Disabled Foundation.

Khalilur Rahman, a member of Rural Electrification Board (REB), has also been given fresh contractual appointment for one year for the third time.
