'PM's proposal not clear'

Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina yesterday brushed aside Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's proposal for forming a committee to discuss the opposition's reform proposals."It's a political grandstanding by the prime minister," she told reporters at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban after Khaleda's speech in the House. The opposition leader observed that the prime minister's speech in parliament frustrated the nation. "Her [PM] speech is not clear," Hasina claimed. "We placed the reform proposal in the House on February 12. Today the prime minister came to parliament and compared it [proposal] with those of a trade union," she said. "Thus the prime minister has undermined the Jatiya Sangsad." Hasina said the reform proposals were not made by Awami League alone -- those were prepared in consultation with 14 political parties. Sources said the Awami League-led 14-party opposition combine is likely to declare its next course of agitation today to meet the demand for reform.
