Leaders of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at a rally yesterday said the government has no moral right to stay in power even for a minute as it has killed people who were demanding electricity at Kansat in Chapainawabganj. They also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in the killing. The CPB organised the rally at Muktangan in the city as part of its countrywide movement to realise its 11-point demand. CPB General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim called on the people to unite once again as in 1971 to rid the country of the misrule of BNP-led alliance government. The main objective of the party's movement is to restore the 1972 constitution and the spirit of the liberation war through toppling the alliance government which is harbouring the militants and anti-liberation forces, he said. He also called on the government to remove the chief election commissioner and implement electoral reforms for holding the next general election in a free and fair manner. CPB leaders Morshed Ali, Ruhin Hossain Prince, Ahsan Habib Lablu and Mahbub Alam also spoke.
