Proposal to Build Pillar of Hatred
Politics divides FFs
Speakers tell book publication ceremony

Paying tributes to the freedom fighters as well as hating the collaborators of the occupation forces are equally important, said the speakers at a book publication ceremony in the city.

They said all the freedom fighters were united like a family in 1971, but it is the politics that has divided them.

The publication ceremony of a book titled "Ekatturey Ronangoney" by Nizamuddin Laskar, a freedom fighter and a drama director, was held at the Liberation War Museum in the city.

Taking part in the discussion on the book, Lt General Mir Shawkat Ali, a sector commander, said everyone took part in the liberation war, even a boy who carried food for the freedom fighters and a man who carried information.

He proposed to build a pillar of hatred near Shishu Park in the city.

"New generation is moving away from the spirit of the liberation war and it is our duty to enkindle the spirit in them." said Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, an eminent writer.

"Any publication, film or drama on the liberation war is very important as it would serve as a document to inspire new generation later to write novels on the war," he said.

Sunirmalkumar Dev, a researcher and writer, Major (Retd) Qamrul Hasan Bhuiyan, a freedom fighter, and Dr Abul Fateh Fattah, a teacher of Sylhet Madan Mohan College, took part in the discussion.
