Bangladeshi documentary goes to Berlin International Film Festival
Bangladeshi documentary film Wishes from Bangladesh, by Mohammad Ali Haidar, is to participate in the competition section of the upcoming 56th Berlin International Film Festival. Altogether 100 out of 3,600 films produced worldwide have been selected to compete at the event. Participants from different countries will be attending the Berlin Talent Campus, which organises workshops to develop the potential of young filmmakers. Wishes from Bangladesh will be screened at the Berlin Talent Campus, says a press release.

The documentary produced by the Sesame Street Workshop (SSW), highlights the struggles of Bangladeshi children from lower middle class families.

The film concentrates on the views and lifestyles of the children featured in the documentary. Incidentally, Ali Haidar bagged the Meril-Prothom Alo Award in 2002 for producing a TV programme Deshjurey.

The director has also trained 12 youngsters from Tangail and Barisal in filmmaking. 12 documentaries (each 2 minute-long) are being aired as part of the TV programme for children, Sisimpur.
