Exhibition
Capturing the essence of endless time

The serenity of nature as well as the hazards of metro life are the two major facets of a photography exhibition, titled 'Life Route'.

The four-day group photo exhibition, organised by the Department of Film and Media of Stamford University, began on January 28. On display are 62 photographs of 15 students of the university. Dr Naazesh Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition. The photography exhibition is dedicated to veteran cinematographer of the country M Abdus Samad, the founder chairman of the Department of Film and Media.

The exquisite and unparalleled beauty of the sun going down in the horizon dominates many of the works. This is the central theme of Saifullah, Ashik and Monika's photographs, which capture the shadow and light of a sunset. The titles of their photographs are apt--Neelambar, Shondhya Akash, Jodio Shondhya Ashichhe Monthore, Biday Sharabela and Shesh Bela, among others.

Khokon's photograph, titled Smritychinha, depicts the relics of a zamindar's palace, while Mizan in his work titled Kal nirobodhi has tried to capture the essence of endless time.

Dip's photograph, titled Amra Dujan: Shukh Dukkha Raag Ahimane, is another interesting work. Portraying two crows on a pole, he has tried to have insights into their world.

Other photographs, such as Street Children and Manush Manush-e, depict the struggle of Dhakaiites.

A workshop-based exhibition, the young photographers who displayed their works deserve mention.
