Patients should know side effects of drugs
Experts tell seminar


Doctors at a scientific seminar yesterday stressed that patients be informed of the possible side effects of drugs.

Ahsania Mission Cancer Detection Centre and Hospital (AMCDCH) and Roche Bangladesh Ltd jointly organised the seminar titled 'Drug Interactions in Oncology' in the Hospital auditorium at Mirpur in the city.

In the keynote paper Prof S A R Chowdhury of Department of Pharmacology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University elaborately discussed the nature, extent and effects of interactions of various drugs used in the treatment of cancer.

He also said drugs should be obtained from proper source and be exchanged and shared among the health care delivery teams involved. Before selecting any drug one should consider the best options available, he said.

Director of AMCDCH Prof M A Hai presided over the seminar while Dr Firdaus Shahriar Sayed, Dr Kazi Manzoor Kader, Prof Kazi Anwarul Huq, Lt Col (Retd) M A Aziz, Dr Parvin Akhtar Banoo, Dr Selim Reza and Dr Quamruzzaman attended the seminar.
