Chuadanga police arrested an alleged woman leader of outlawed Banglar Communist Party (BCP-Laltu) Sunday night. She was identified as Chanmala alias Sawrashati, 30, daughter of Gosto Kumar Das of Bhalaipur village in Alamdanga upazila. Tipped-off, a team from Chuadanga Sadar thana raided the house of Chanala at about midnight and arrested her. Police said she was absconding since October 12 last year when police raided her house to arrest her for her alleged involvement with the outlawed party. The October 12 raid followed confessional statement by arrested alleged outlaw Jasim in which he said that Chanmala was a BCP cadre. Jasim was killed in crossfire with police on November 11 last year. Police claimed that after Jasim's death, Chanmala was leading the BCP in Bhalaipur area. Police after interrogation yesterday produced her before a magistrate court, which sent her to jail. When contacted, Sadar thana police said they could not recover any arms from her.
