PDB office besieged in Satkhira

The Awami League (AL) led 14-party alliance brought out a procession in the town and laid a siege to Satkhira Power Development Board (PDB) office yesterday protesting the killing of eight farmers in police firing in Kansat in Chapainawabganj for demanding smooth power supply. Starting from Shahid Abdur Razzak Park, the processionists paraded the main streets of the town and held a rally in front of the PD office during the siege programme. It was addressed by, among others, district AL acting general secretary M A Ahmed, JSD President Kazi Riaz and party leader Sudhangsu Shekhar Sarkar, Workers Party Secretary Mustafa Lutfullah, advocate Fahimul Haque Kislu, Syed Firoz Kamal Shuvra, Azibar Rahman, SM Shawkat Hossain, Sheikh Nurul Haque, Rifat Amin, Happy Chowdhury, Shahadat Hossain and advocate Farida Akhtar Banu. They demanded fair investigation into the Kansat incident, release of two persons arrested there for protesting power supply disruption and withdrawal of all false cases against them. They also demanded exemplary punishment to the people responsible for the killings, smooth power supply across the country for IRRI-Boro cultivation and end to alleged harassment of electricity consumers.
