Hearing on Galib cases March 14

A Bogra court yesterday fixed March 14 as the next date for hearing on two cases against Asadullah Al Galib and four others.

Galib and four other accused were produced before the Bogra Special Tribunal-2 amid tight security.

Hearings on the two cases -- one for a bomb blast and the other for explosives recovery -- were not held while the court conducted hearing on the petition for discharging Galib from the cases and fixed February 7 for deciding on it.

One of the cases is for a bomb attack at a cultural function on Laxmikhola School ground in Shahjahanpur upazila of the district on January 14 last year that left one rickshaw-puller killed and more than 50 others injured.

The other was filed in connection with the seizure of huge explosives from the house of Zoynal Sarkar at Chaksodu village under Gabtoli upazila of the same district on January 16 last year.

The four other accused in the cases are Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh's spiritual leader Shaikh Abdur Rahman, Zoynal Sarkar, his wife Monwara, and Shafiqullah.
