Live Now: The album coming soon
Cultural Correspondent
After the resounding success of the two concerts, Live Now and Live Now II, Shabab Murshid Foundation is pleased to bring out Live Now the album. Featuring bands such as Aurthoheen, Artcell, Black, Cryptic Fate, The Watson Brothers, dNA, Reborn, Arbovirus, Fulbanu's Revenge, Nemesis and Birodh, the album, to be released in the first week of January, promises to be a great addition to any underground music lover's collection.Shabab Murshid Foundation was formed soon after Shabab Murshid (15), son of economist Dr KAS Murshid and artist Shameem Subrana, suddenly passed away while playing basketball at his school in Phnom Penh. The foundation aims to raise health awareness among children while promoting music and sports two of Shabab's key interests. Live Now, the album, will feature the song Live Now which was written by Victor, a Grade 11 student of Shabab Murshid's school in Phnom Penh (International School of Phnom Penh). He, along with a few other students of ISPP, composed the song in half an hour and performed it at the memorial service that the school arranged the day after Shabab passed away on May 10, 2005. By dedicating the album to Shabab (featuring songs of bands that Shabab liked and listened to), Shabab Murshid Foundation wants to draw attention to Shabab's story. They believe that this incident could have been prevented if a thorough medical check up was done every year. Perhaps a proper diagnosis could have helped save his life. By this album, Shabab Murshid Foundation will seek to urge parents to take their children to the doctor at least once a year, whether or not there is an obvious problem. In line with the aim to raise awareness, Shabab Murshid Foundation is also working with BIRDEM to hold a CPR training workshop later this month. Local schools are requested to express their interest to participate in the workshop via email at [email protected]. Each participant will be charged Tk 200 only for the training. In case of schools that cannot afford the fee, Shabab Murshid Foundation will finance the training of the participants from that school. Each school will be able to send two participants.
