This is apparently the age of the mega serials on television. Mega-serials are lucrative to the TV channels for a number of reasons. Besides being extremely popular to the audience, TV serials also fetch the TV channels oodles of commercials and sponsors. Hence all the TV channels are now competing with each other to get a slice of the "mega-serial pie". Besides the ongoing TV serials, quite a few new ones started their journey while some ended theirs.Here's list of the most talked about TV serials of last year. The list does not however, follow any particular ranking. 69: One of the popular drama serials on channel-i, 69 ended last year. The serial was scripted and directed by Anisul Haque and Mostafa Sarwar Farooki respectively. The serial revolved around the owner of a building, his family and a tenant's family. The characters portrayed in a very casual style soon became popular among the TV viewers. Major roles were played by Shahiduzzaman Selim, Ilora Gohar, Ahmed Rubel, Hassan Masud, Joya Ahsan, Tisha, Tinni, Shrestha, Kalpa, Marzuk Russell and others. Sporsher Baire: Based on a story by Pantho Shahariar, the serial was directed by Shahiduzzaman Selim. The Dhaka Cultural Reporters' Association awarded Sporsher Baire as the best TV serial. The serial featured Raisul Islam Asad, Afroza Banu, Azad Abul Kalam, Srabonti and Sanjida Preeti, among others. Chithi: Although it started just recently, drama serial Chithi has created quite a buzz among the TV audience for its original storyline. Some misplaced letters are finally mailed to the correct addresses. How these long overdue letters affect the receivers is the focus of the serial. Aired on ntv, Rokeya Prachi, Tarik Anam Khan, Sweety, Tamalika, Rhidi Huq, Fazlur Rahman Babu and others have played the characters in different episodes of the serial; each narrating a different story. Kachher Manush: Based on Suchitra Bhattacharya's novel, Kachher Manush is directed by Afsana Mimi and has wide popularity and the audiences. The serial features seasoned as well emerging actors who display an impressive chemistry. The cast includes Humayun Faridee, Alamgir, Shubarna Mustafa, Intekhab Dinar, Sanjida Preeti, Tahsan and others. Sheola: Featuring several popular artistes of the small screen, Zahid Hassan, Azizul Hakim, Tarin, Litu Anam, Bulbul Ahmed, Munira Yusuf Memi, Sumaiya Shimu, Jeetu, Farah Ruma and Richi Solaiman, the serial received attention because of its distinctive story line. The serial followed two close friends who get into trouble for their affiliations with a communist party. Ferdous Hasan is the director and the writer of the serial. Rangchhut: Based on a story by Nasrin Jahan, the serial is directed by Shahiduzzaman Selim. The serial revolves around an apparently delusional woman and the people around her. The cast of the mega serial included Subarna Mustafa, Pijush Bandyopadhyay, Chitralekha Guho and Srabonti among others.
