Two cops suspended for snatching money


Two police constables of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were suspended yesterday for snatching money from a hundi trader.

Constables Akbar Ali and Masud Rana took away Tk 7.5 lakh from Atikur Rahman Babu, an alleged Hundi traders, and his companion Abdur Razzak on gunpoint, sources said.

The policemen challenged the hundi traders while they were carrying the money for giving it to cattle trader Shawkat Hossain at Haragram in the city from Godagari frontier.

A case has been lodged with Rajpara police station. Police arrested constable Masud Rana in this connection, but constable Akbar Ali managed to escape.

Rajpara police, however, recovered all the money from the houses of the police constables, the businessmen said.
