Bomb recovered from KG School

Kotwali police recovered a bomb from a kindergarten school at the city's Patharghata area yesterday morning. The bomb was later defused.

Police said the authorities of Ideal Kindergarten School informed them about the abandoned bomb near the school boundary wall at about 9:30am. Sub-inspector (SI) Mir Kashem immediately rushed to the spot, brought the bomb to police station and defused it at 11:30am.

"The bomb was manufactured with gel-explosives and electric cable. It was wrapped in red tape and also contained two pencil batteries and a switch,'' the SI told the journalists.

The Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Moin Uddin, however, disagreed with the SI's observation and said that it was not a bomb but a bomb-like substance recovered in a defused condition.

School authorities postponed academic activities immediately after the incident.

A general diary was also lodged.
