Inoki is best remembered for the 'infamous' bout with boxing legend Mohammad Ali in 1976, which was telecast live event in Bangladesh. The 'bizarre' battle between world heavyweight champion boxer Ali and the world champion wrestler in Japan drew huge attention but the evasive actions of Inoki throughout the 16 rounds eventually turned in into a 'boring match of the century'.

While Ali was dancing like a butterfly in the ring, Inoki chose to lie down on the mat most of the time much to the frustration of the spectators.

Inoki, also a former senator, is expected to organise a number of bouts in Dhaka in February 2006. He will inspect the venues at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and Army Stadium for this purpose, according to a press release issued by Japan-Bangladesh group.

Inoki began his career in 1972 and won the WWF title two years later defeating Koraiashi.
