Muktijoddha consolidate


Muktijoddha Sangsad maintained solo lead in the Dutch-Bangla Bank First Division Chess League at the end of the eighth round at the BCF hall-room yesterday.

The leaders beat Faith Chess Club 3.5-0.5 in the eighth round to increase their tally to 27 points.

Defending champions Leonine Chess Club and Bangladesh Biman were one point adrift of Mukti-joddha to secure the second spot.

Leonine outplayed Dhaka University Chess Team 4-0 and Biman also bagged an identical victory over Friends Chess Power.

In the day's other matches, Destiny 2000 beat Dolphin Chess Club 4-0, BJMC beat Narayanganj City Chess Club 3-1, Titas Club beat Mohakhali Prodip Sangha 2.5-1.5, Sonali Bank beat Shahid Mufti Kashed Daba Dal 3-1 and Farashganj Sporting Club beat Anushillan Daba KC 2.5-1.5.
