Sorry, Minhaz

Reporters are good at finding faults of others. But at times they do eat their own pies. Otherwise, how could most of the newspapers of the country including The Daily Star Sport mislead the readers from the fact that Minhazul Abedin was the second Bangladeshi cricketer to have scored first-class centuries in both innings.

"You people just forgot that I made 210 and unbeaten 110 (for Chittagong) against Dhaka at Mymensingh in 2001," said a piqued former national captain at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.

His reminder left everybody around him in a state of embarrassment.

It was unknowingly reported that Javed Omar became the third Bangladeshi cricketer after Shahriar Hossain and Shahin Hossain to have scored centuries in both innings.

Shahriar achieved the feat against MCC in 1999 while Shahin did it against Chittagong in the National League last year.

Javed scored 106 and 151 against Barisal at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium last week.
