Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Drama Festival '05

Natyakendra stages Projapati today at 6:30pm at the Experimental Theatre Stage, as part of the drama festival arranged by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF).

A preview of Projapati:
Projapati, the translation of popular American playwright Thornton Wilder's Matchmaker, is based on Austrian playwright Johan Nestroy's drama A Day Well Spent. Tareq Anam Khan has translated Projapati maintaining the authenticity of the original comedy.

The protagonist of the play is a matchmaker. The antagonist, a shrewd man named Horas, thinks that everything in the world can be achieved by money. Through a change of approach in the antagonist's observations of life, the play reveals that money is not the sole driving force in the world.

Tariq Anam Khan is the director as well as the set and light designer of the play.

Comments from Keramat Moula:
Again Keramat Moula has been selected as the convenor of the ongoing theatre festival titled "For the welfare of Mujibur Rahman Dilu and other theatre activists". Moula is the presidium member of the current committee of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF).

Moula said, "I am the convenor of most of the programmes like festivals, workshops and others initiated by BGTF. Last year we successfully completed 37-day Dhaka Drama Festival 2004 and popularised the Experimental Theatre Stage as a theatre venue. I was the convener of that festival. I am again selected as the convenor of the current theatre festival. We have arranged this festival for a good cause. Mujibur Rahman Dilu has been suffering from GBS and we believe we should give a hand to his treatment. As it is a fundraising effort of BGTF, all the popular stage plays have been included in the festival"

"My troupe, Theatre (Natok Sarani) is not participating in the festival. BGTF selection committee invited our production Shat Ghater Kanakori. However, our group is not in a convenient position to stage the play right at this moment", added Moula.
