'Save all canals in city'

Speakers at a rally yesterday urged the government to save all canals in and around the city including Atir Khal from the ongoing grabbing and pollution. They said the vested quarters have become active again to grab the canals taking the advantage of present political unrest in the country. The rally was organised by the Save Environment Movement at Rayer Bazar BIWTA Ghat in the city. The speakers also urged the government to remove the embankment near Bosila. Save Environment Movement Convenor Abu Naser Khan, Abdul Matin, Ikma Hossain, Advocate Abul Kalam Azad and Amir Hossain spoke at the rally.
