Charges against 6 JMB militants in Jhalakathi

Jhalakathi police on November 30 submitted the charge sheet against six Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leaders and activists, including Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, for the November 14 bomb attack on two judges.The four other chargesheeted accused are Ataur Rahman Sunny, 49, brother of Abdur Rahman, Abdul Awal, 29, son-in-law of Abdur Rahman, Md Iftekhar Hassan Al Mamun alias Mamun Ali alias Shihab, 30, the arrested injured JMB suicide bomber and son of Rajshahi University employee Kamruzzaman, and Sultan Hossain Khan, 44, son of Lal Khan of Krishnakathi of Jhalakathi. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhalakathi Sadar thana and investigation officer (IO) of the case Sohrab Hossain submitted the charge sheet under the Explosive Substances Act. The process of filing another charge sheet for killing judges Sohel Ahmed and Jagannath Pandey is also going on. The police have so far arrested 13 accused, including bomber Mamun Ali, his associate Sultan and Shaikh Rahman's son-in-law Abdul Awal, in connection with the two cases. IO Sohrab Hossain said the charge sheet was framed according to the confession of main accused Mamun Ali and the facts found during the interrogation of him and other arrestees. All the 13 arrestees may also be included in the other charge sheet, he added. The two judges were killed and four others injured in a bomb attack on their microbus in front of their residential quarters on November 14 morning. JMB suicide squad member Mamun blasted the bomb and was caught red handed with another bomb tied to his body. Our Dinajpur correspondent reports: Panchagarh police submitted a charge sheet against 11 JMB cadres, including Abdul Awal, in connection with the August 17 countrywide bomb blasts. Thakurgaon police also arrested at least eight JMB militants, including three suicide bombers, during the last three days.
