Captaincy reward for Zoro?

Ivory Coast international Mark Zoro, who was the target of racist abuse at the weekend, will be made captain of Messina at Treviso on December 4, Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday.

Defender Zoro was reduced to tears after being subjected to abuse by visiting fans in Sunday's 2-1 home Italian league defeat against Inter Milan.

The president of the Sicilian club Pietro Franza said: "Zoro is a model player at our club which has been welcoming players of different nationalities for years and he will soon become the symbol of the fight against racism in our national sport.

"We admire him for what he has done. We are citizens of the world and we will continue to be."
