Biman, Leonine share lead


Holders Leonine Chess Club and Bangladesh Biman toppled Muktijoddha Sangsad in the table to take joint lead in the Dutch-Bangla First Division Chess League after fifth round yesterday.

Biman blanked Titas Club 4-0 and Leonine beat Faith Chess Club by the same margin at the BCF hall room but Muktijoddha, who were at solo lead till the fourth round, dropped one point when Indian Grand Master Avijit Kunte lost to Nasir Ahmed of Destiny 2000.

Muktijoddha beat Destiny 3-1 to take their collection to 17 points, just half-a-point behind the co-leaders.

In the other matches, BJMC beat Mohakhali Pradeep Sangha 3-1, Narayanganj CCC beat Friends CP 3.5-0.5, Dolphin CC beat Farashganj SC 3-1, Sonali Bank beat Dhaka University 3-1 and Anushillon defeated Shaheed Mufti Kashed DD 2.5-1.5.
