Explaining the situation BDR commander Col Shakhwat Hossain said a team raided the house of Atahar Ali early in the morning to seize phensidyl. But the villagers resisted. Reinforced BDR went to arrest Atahar when the angry people attacked them with sharp weapons.

BDR resorted to lathi charge and ultimately fired in self-defence wounding Atahar. BDR Nayek Subedar Moyenuddin was injured in the attack, he added.
