Theatre activists to aid the monga affected people

To help the monga affected people of the greater Rangpur region of the country, theatre activists of Dhaka city collected funds at the big shopping areas of the city yesterday.

Theatre activists gathered at the greater shopping places like New Market, Eastern Plaza and Bashundhara City Shopping Complex and others.

M Hamid, the vice president of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF) said, "As we took a quick decision to help the monga affected people at the northern part of the country, we failed to make the announcement at a convenient time before the fundraising date. However, we have received a huge response from the Eid shoppers. We have already instructed the associate members of BGTF at Rangpur to arrange everything so that the aid can be distributed to the monga affected people directly.

"Within a few days we will take a greater initiative involving a larger scale of people to aid the monga affected people", added Hamid.
