Hajjis' plight
Peerzada Syed Rofiqul Hussain Hiala Shaheb Bari, Habigonj
I would like to draw the kind attention of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the officials concerned to the plight of Hajjis every year. According to media reports, 50 thousand pilgrims are performing Hajj this year, but it is regretted that, out of fifty thousand pilgrims only two thousand five hundred have been enrolled in the government quota for performing the holy Hajj. Why the rest forty seven thousand five hundred Hajjis are going under private management? Much has been said about the major irregularities of the so called Hajj mission sent from Bangladesh to look after the Bangladeshi Hajjis in Saudi Arabia during Hajj time. It is evident from the past that though there is one sign Board at Jeddah Airport in the name of "Bangladesh Hajj Mission", nobody is found there to help the Hajjis.
