Hotels, Chinese restaurant fined Tk 5.5 lakh


Mobile courts yesterday fined hotels, food shops, a bakery and a Chinese restaurant Tk 5.50 lakh in the capital during their drive against food adulteration and unhygienic condition.

During a raid on Aktrium Chinese Restaurant in Gulshan area, a mobile court fined it Tk 20,000 after the magistrate found its kitchen very unhygienic.

The court also fined Tangail Sweetmeat at Narda Bazar Tk 20,000 for preparing sweetmeats in an unhygienic condition.

Another mobile court conducted a raid on the food shops at Basundara City where six food shops, including Basundhara Café, were fined Tk 39,000 for selling adulterated foods.

The Bhai Bhai Bakery at West Jurain Bazar in Shyampur was using date-expired flour in bread and biscuit when a mobile court appeared there. The bakery was fined Tk 70,000 for such malpractice.

The court also fined Tiptop Hotel and Samrat Hotel in the same area Tk 10,000 and Tk 5,000 respectively for selling adulterated foods.

Another mobile court slapped a fine of Tk 25,000 each on Keya Hotel and Badda Hotel in Badda area for selling adulterated foods.
