Sweater factory godown gutted

A godown of a sweater factory was gutted in a fire in the city's Kafrul area yesterday. However, no casualty was reported. Fire Brigade sources said the fire originated from an electric short-circuit at about 5:00am and soon engulfed the godown of UE Sweater Pvt Ltd on the 6th floor of Chourangi Market at Senpara Parabata under Kafrul Police Station. On information, nine units of firefighters from Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Kurmitola and Fire Brigade Headquarters rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze at about 8:00am. The management of the factory estimated the loss in the fire at about Tk 1.5 crore.
