Born of a poor family in Keraniganj, Jahid passed the SSC and HSC examinations with first divisions from humanities group and BA in Islamic studies with second class.

He has recently got an opportunity to enrol at the University of East London for higher studies. But he is unable to pay the tuition fee of about Tk nine lakh. He sells prayer caps and attar to earn a living as well as educational costs, while his mother works as a domestic help in Dhaka.

Jahid is the first blind student to take part in the IELTS exam held at the British Council in Dhaka last month.

He appeals to the generous people to extend a helping hand so that he can pursue higher studies.
