5 Bangladeshilynched in India


Five Bangladeshis were lynched by a mob in Uttar 24 Parganas of West Bengal, India, on Sunday.

They are Minhazul Islam, 35, son of Mohamad Ali, Shafiqul Islam Lata, 30, son of Rabiul Islam, Akhtarul Islam, 25, son of Mujibur Rahman, Zahidul Islam, 30, son of Intaz Ali and Belal Hossain, 25, son of Abdul Khaleque. All the five hailed from Ghiba village in Sarsha upazila of Jessore.

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) sources quoted the BSF source as saying the Bangladeshi nationals were caught by the villagers at Boira under Barasat sub-division of 24 Parganas while trying to steal motorcycles at about 6:00pm.

Locals beat up the five Bangladeshis severely, resulting in their death instantly, sources said.

The BDR sent an official letter to the BSF enquiring about the incident. The BSF did not respond till the filing of this report as of 5:35pm yesterday.

Bodies of the victims were lying at a hospital in India, the BDR said quoting the BSF source.
