World Habitat Day today

The World Habitat Day will be observed in the country today as elsewhere around the globe, with the slogan -- 'Millennium Development Goals and the City'.The day aims to reduce the number of people deprived of pure drinking water by half by 2015 and ensure significant improvement in the socio-economic conditions of 10 crore slum dwellers by 2020. President Dr Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia have issued separate messages on the occasion.
